Writer, director and producer Mudassar Aziz, known for his directorials like Happy Bhaag Jayegi and Khel Khel Main, spoke exclusively to India Today Digital about his upcoming projects. He shared an update about Pati, Patni Aur Woh sequel and expressed his desire to collaborate with Kareena Kapor, who he admires for her craft.
“I am currently working on the sequel of Pati, Patni Aur Woh. I’m really looking forward to part two of this film,” he told us during the interview. He further added, “It may be too soon to get into what the plot of the film is at the moment, but all I can surely say is that the audience who enjoy commercial cinema would really enjoy this one too. The star cast of the film is yet to be announced, but it’s going to be something that we are all excited to present it to you all.”
Aziz also expressed his keen interest to work with Kareena Kapoor Khan in the near future. “Bebo and I go a long way. She has a very special bond with me. Infact, Kareena herself knows how much I admire her for her craft and the person that she is. I have been meaning to work with her for a very long time, and she is aware of that. We have come very close a couple of times to working together and this time around, I’m hoping we can make it happen. She’s a superstar who is definitely on my wish-list of actors who I’d like to direct,” the director said.
Speaking about his ongoing projects, Aziz shared, “I’m also working on a script which is going to be the biggest ensemble cast of stars and superstars that will come together. After Khel Khel Main, I had told myself that I would now write a script that just has a maximum of two lead actors. But then, eventually, knowing myself, once I sit to write, it turns into a film that would have a massive ensemble cast. I also wish to work with so many people – there’s Salman Khan, the legendary Mr Amitabh Bachchan among others. I feel I want to keep working on stories so that someday we can collaborate and bring something super entertaining for our audiences.”
Mudassar Aziz’s last directorial, Khel Khel Mein was released in the theatres on August 15, and it clashed with Vedaa and Stree 2 at the box office. The film found success upon its release on Netflix.
